Beach and Swimming Policies

 

  • All Posted Rules & Regulations are to be followed.
  • Swimming in Dunning Lake begins the first Saturday in June and ends on Labor Day. The lake is open on Labor Day. Swim hours are 10:00am-7:45pm in June and July, and 10:00am-7:30pm in August until the beach closes.
  • Open water swimming is not permitted.
  • The lifeguards are here to protect everyone. Please respect their authority and judgment. Keep paths in front of the lifeguard chairs free of chairs, towels, umbrellas, and beach toys. No sitting or climbing on lifeguard chair.
  • Children are the responsibility of their parents. No child under the age of twelve is to be left unattended. Please do not think the job of lifeguarding is that of baby-sitting. Bubbles, water wings, rafts and other floating devices are prohibited. The safety of your family is important to us.
  • Coast guard approved lifejackets are acceptable but cannot be used to aid a child in getting to the rafts. Children are allowed to the rafts only if they are able to make it on their own.Do not tow them!
  • Alcoholic beverages are permitted in the picnic areas only. No glass containers.
  • Smoking is prohibited from the beach area.
  • Baby changing tables are provided in both sides of the bathhouse and at the playscape. Do not use picnic tables to change diapers.
  • No cloth diapers/pampers are allowed in the lake. All babies/toddlers must wear swim diapers.
  • No throwing of sand or rocks
  • Fishing is not permitted on the beach
  • Do not push off, flip off or swim under the rafts.
  • Please do not touch live animals, including mussels.

Winding Trails is dedicated to the conservation and stewardship of the natural woodlands and waterways that allow outdoor programming, character development, and other activities that strengthen the lives of those we serve.
